Pharmaceutical potentials of Ficus carica bioactive compounds

Abstract
Ficus carica, commonly known as the fig, has long been valued for its nutritional and medicinal properties. This review explores the pharmaceutical potentials of its bioactive compounds, focusing on their antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial, anticancer, and antidiabetic activities. The rich phytochemical profile of figs, including polyphenols, flavonoids, tannins, and saponins, has been linked to a range of therapeutic benefits, making them a promising candidate for the development of natural pharmaceuticals. This review discusses the mechanisms underlying these properties and highlights current research and applications.
