Efficacy of pre and post emergent herbicides on weed and yield parameters of rice bean (Vigna umbellata L.)

Abstract

A field experiment was carried out during kharif, 2023 at College of Agriculture, Kalaburagi, Karnataka, India. The experiment was laid out in Randomized Complete Block Design with three replications and eight treatments. The results of the experiment revealed that among the herbicide treatments, application of pendimethalin 38.7% CS @ 685 g a.i. ha-1 as PE fb propaquizafop 2.5% + imazethapyr 3.7% w/w @ 75 g a.i. ha-1 at 20-25 DAS had resulted in significantly lower density of weeds, higher weed control efficiency, lower weed index and higher yield and yield parameters. It was on par with other treatments like pendimethalin 38.7% CS @ 685 g a.i. ha-1 as PE fb intercultivation at 30 DAS and pendimethalin 38.7% CS @ 685 g a.i. ha-1 as PE fb imazethapyr 10 SL @ 75 g a.i. ha-1 at 20-25 DAS. Hence, pendimethalin 38.7% CS @ 685 g a.i. ha-1 as PE fb propaquizafop 2.5% + imazethapyr 3.7% w/w @ 75 g a.i. ha-1 at 20-25 DAS could be used as an effective weed management practice in rice bean.
