Ameliorated estimator for estimating population variance in simple random sampling

Abstract
In this paper we proposed a modified class of estimators for estimating population variance in SRS using auxiliary information. The expression for the mean square error is derived up to the first degree of approximation. The proposed estimator is completed theoretically and empirically.
