Homoeopathic pain management in improving quality of life in intervertebral disc bulge: A case report
Abstract
An intervertebral disc bulge is a condition where the intervertebral disc protrudes beyond its normal boundary. This condition can be a precursor to a more severe disc herniation, where the nucleus pulposus leaks out through a tear in the annulus fibrosus. This can compress the nerves or spinal cord causing pain and spinal cord dysfunction. This case study helps to know about the effectiveness of homoeopathic medicines in pain management in cases of intervertebral disc bulge. A 48 years old male patient presented with pain in the nape of the neck and lower back since 4 years. The case was diagnosed with Intervertebral Disc Bulge. After detailed case taking and repertorization, he was prescribed with Sulphur 200C. There was a marked improvement in pain and in his quality of life. From this case study, we could understand that when a homoeopathic medicine is selected according to symptom similarity and individuality, it will reciprocate wellness in the patient at the earliest.
