Path analysis studies in pole type French bean (Phaseolus vulgaris L.) genotypes
Abstract
Path analysis in thirty two genotypes of pole type French bean was carried out at the Regional Agricultural Research Station (RARS), Vijayapura during Rabi 2022-23. The results revealed that the number of primary branches at 60 DAS (0.041), days to 50 per cent flowering (0.316), number of pods per plant (0.870), pod width (0.027), average 10 pod weight (0.828), number of clusters per plant (0.029) and seed test weight (0.017) all had a positive direct effect at genotypic level, indicating a true positive and significant relationship with pod yield per plant. As a result, direct selection for these characters might be beneficial for improving pod yield in pole type French bean varieties.
