Correlation studies in Lupine (Lupinus perennis L.)
Abstract
The present investigation on Correlation studies in Lupine (Lupinus perennis L.) was carried out at the College of Horticulture, Mudigere, (under Keladi Shivappa Nayaka University of Agricultural and Horticultural Sciences, Shivamogga) during 2020-21. This study was undertaken to determine the correlation between flower and seed yield with different quantitative traits of lupine. The findings revealed significant positive correlations between flower yield and traits such as plant height, leaf area, chlorophyll content, number of branches per plant, dry weight of plant, flower duration, flower diameter, stalk length, and number of stalks per plant. On the other hand, there was a strong negative association between flower yield and the number of days taken for flower stalk to emerge and bloom from days after sowing. Additionally, seed yield showed highly significant positive correlations with traits including weight of seeds per flower, test weight, number of branches per plant, number of stalks per plant, number of florets per stalk, flower diameter, dry weight of plant, flower yield per plot, and seed yield per plant. These results suggest that the identified traits can be effectively targeted to enhance lupine yield.
