Evaluation of plant oils as impregnation of packaging materials against rice moth, Corcyra cephalonica (Staint.) in stored pearl millet

Abstract

The investigations on “Evaluation of plant oils as impregnation of packaging materials against rice moth, Corcyra cephalonica (Staint.) in stored pearl millet” were carried out under laboratory conditions at College of Agriculture, Bharatpur, Rajasthan during 2020-2021. The plant oils namely, taramira oil, neem oil, castor oil, karanj oil with three dosage levels (5.0, 7.5 and 10.0%) and a standard check of malathion 50 EC (0.1%) were evaluated against rice moth, Corcyra cephalonica (Staint.) in stored pearl millet as impregnation of packaging materials (plastic fibre and gunny bags). The packaging materials (plastic fibre and gunny bags) impregnated with malathion 50 EC (0.1%) and neem oil (10.0%) were found most effective to reduce adult emergence, grain damage and weight loss caused by Corcyra cephalonica (Staint.) in stored pearl millet followed by karanj oil (10.0%) and neem oil (7.5%).
