Evaluation of seed treatments for storability and seed quality in mungbean (Vigna radiate (L.) Wilczek)

Abstract

The seed qualities are deteriorated by different biotic and abiotic factor during ambient storage. Pulse beetles play an important role in the deterioration of the pulse crop's seed quality. The use of protectants as seed treatment is rapid and effective method for destroying life of insects during seed storage. The maximum germination was recorded in Emamectin benzoate (proclaim 5 SG) @ 40 mg/kg seed with 87.50 percent germination followed by Spinosad (Tracer 45 SC) @ 3.5 mg/kg seed with 83.87 percent. The highest seed vigour index was recorded in Emamectin benzoate (proclaim 5 SG) @ 40 mg/kg seed with 2434.09 followed by Spinosad (Tracer 45 SC) @ 3.5 mg/kg seed with 2252.76 as compared to control 1632.25. However, treatments found numerically significant and effect of varieties and interactions were nonsignificant results.
