Standardization of nano-DAP seed priming treatments to enhance seed quality in chickpea (Cicer arietinum)
Abstract
Experiment was conducted to standardize nano-DAP seed priming concentration and duration in chickpea (cv. JG 11) at the department of Seed Science and Technology Dharwad, University of Agricultural Sciences, Dharwad during, 2023, which consisted of 32 treatments laid out in Complete randomized design with four replications. Six nano-DAP concentrations (0.5%, 1%, 2%, 3%, 4% and 5%) with difference soaking durations from 0 to 8 hours. The treatment in which seed primed with nano-DAP at 0.5 percent for 6 hours recorded higher germination (93.00 %), shoot length (15.55 cm), seedling dry weight (3.32 g/ 10 seedlings), seedling vigour index-I (3147) and seedling vigour index-II (309) and lower electrical conductivity (140 µS/cm) compared to control (87.00%, 14.20 cm, 2.55 g/10 seedlings, 2594, 222 and 185 µS/cm, respectively). It is concluded that nano-DAP concentration of 0.5 percent and soaking duration of 6 hour are recommended for seed priming in chickpea.
