Evaluation of different ready-mix insecticides against giant African snail
Abstract
Present investigation on the evaluation of different ready-mix insecticides against giant African snail denotes there was the practical efficiency in controlling population of snail is more in poison baits than the bioassay methods. Giant African snail is the terrestrial mollusk amongst world invasive species causing greater damage to more than the 500 cultivated species of crops. This research was did in the laboratory to know the effect of different readymix insecticides against giant African snail. Two scientific methods were adopted in this research. Bioassay was done with using leaf dip method in which mulberry leaves were used. In other objective insecticides were mixed with the poison bait comprising wheat bran + jaggery water. The leaf dip method of bioassay studies recorded the highest mortality (46.66%) of snails in the treatment Thiamethoxam 12.60% + Lambda-cyhalothrin 09.50% ZC. In poison baits, Metaldehyde 2.5% DP recorded the highest mortality (86.66%) against snails, followed by Cartap Hydrochloride 7.5% w/w + Emamectin benzoate 0.25%w/w GR (60%).
