Response of pearl millet (Pennisetum glaucum L.) to foliar spray of nano dap

International Journal of Research in Agronomy · 2024 · Vol. 7(10) · pp. 995–999

Abstract

The study was conducted to investigate the effect of Nano DAP on the growth and productivity of pearl millet. The experiment took place during the kharif season of 2023 at the Agricultural Research Station, Dhadesugur, using a randomized block design with eight treatments and three replications. The treatments varied in fertilizer and foliar spray combinations, testing the impact of Nano DAP alongside recommended doses of fertilizers (RDF). Results showed that the combination of 100% RDF and foliar spray of Nano DAP (T8) significantly improved growth parameters, including plant height (193.01 cm), number of leaves (20.66), leaf area (2846.69 cm²) and dry matter production (162.60 g/plant). T8 also recorded the highest ear head weight (49.32 g/plant), grain yield (3383.67 kg/ha), stover yield (6247.39 kg/ha) and harvest index (0.35). These findings demonstrate that Nano DAP enhances nutrient use efficiency, leading to better biomass accumulation and higher yields, thus highlighting its potential in promoting sustainable agricultural practices for pearl millet cultivation in semi-arid regions.
