Literature review on Agnisandeepan Rasa: An Ayurvedic herbo-mineral formulation

Journal of Pharmacognosy and Phytochemistry · 2024 · Vol. 13(5) · pp. 734–739

Abstract

Agnisandeepan Rasa is a classical Ayurvedic formulation composed of a distinctive combination of mineral and herbal ingredients. The primary component, Rasa Sindoor, is well-known for its potent Rasayana (Rejuvenative) properties and its ability to stimulate Agni, playing a crucial role in enhancing impaired metabolism and strengthening digestive function. Numerous references to Agnisandeepan Rasa are found throughout classical Ayurvedic texts, particularly within the literature of Rasashastra. While early Ayurvedic sages primarily prescribed this formulation for the treatment of Agnimandya, later scholars and compilers of Ayurvedic texts elaborated on its formulation, preparation methods, dosage guidelines, appropriate anupana, and recommended treatment duration. This study compiles and critically examines the classical references to Agnisandeepan Rasa, offering insights into its therapeutic applications and potential in the management of Agni-related disorders.
