A clinical study to select the correct potency for the homoeopathic similimum by analysing the susceptibility of the patients using age as a determining factor

Abstract

Homoeopathy is based on the law of similar, and the remedy is selected based on similimum. The action of the remedy which is selected on the basis of similimum not only depends solely on the right remedy but also on right potency and right repetition. When administering the remedy, susceptibility of the patient should be satisfied. It can be said that disease is only the expression of the deranged susceptibility. With help of homoeopathy, the individual re-balances the void created by the deranged susceptibility. Susceptibility of the patient should be satisfied in the first place. For this, the susceptibility of the patient is to be found, then the right remedy is to be administered. Even if the remedy is right, it should be given in suitable potency to bring out the desired action of the remedy. In some cases when lesser potency is administered, it may not bring out the desired action of the remedy and in some cases, when higher potency is administered than the needed potency it may cause unnecessary aggravation in the patient. The remedy that is selected as similimum should be given in proper potency. This study is carried out to assess the efficiency of high potency in children, moderate potency in middle age and lower potency in old age group. This study aims at general understanding of the susceptibility based on the age factor and its role in homoeopathy in relation to cure.
