Geological environmental study of Al-Dalmaj marsh area: Review

Abstract

The revision aims to present the most important studies that dealt with the Dalmaj Marsh Region, which is located in central Iraq between the governorates of Wasit and Al-Diwaniyah, because of its great biological and environmental importance, both for the neighboring region in particular and for the environment of Iraq in general. Through reviewing some studies, the revision reached several conclusions, including that the region was studied from the environmental, biological, hydrological, tourist and geochemical aspects to know the nature of the water in the region and its suitability for various purposes. These studies showed valuable results that can be taken into account by the relevant responsible authorities and decision-makers for the development of the region. The researchers suggested that it could become a natural tourist reserve with an economic resource that provides the Iraqi natural environment with biological and economic diversity.
