Participation of farm women in production of vermicompost

Abstract

The present study entitled “Participation of farm women in production of vermicompost” was conducted in purposively selected Krishi Vigyan Kendra of Latur in Latur district and Krishi Vigyan Kendra of Tuljapur in Dharashiv district in Marathwada region of Maharashtra State who are conducting trainings of vermicompost production for farm women. Determining the method of vermicompost production, preparation of raw materials for vermicomposting, preparation of beds, use a cover over the bed, feeding earthworms, watering the bed while preparing vermicompost, separation of earthworms from vermicompost and selling of vermicompost were the practices regularly had participation by more than half of the farm women in production of vermicompost. Finding revealed that, majority (55.83%) of the farm women had medium level of participation in production of vermicompost, followed by 20.00% and 24.17% had high level and low of participation in production of vermicompost.
