Employment status of agricultural technical school diploma holders

Abstract

This study examines the employment status of Agricultural Technical School (ATS) diploma holders from 2010-2011 to 2022-2023 under the jurisdiction of Dr. PDKV, Akola. The research aims to assess the effectiveness of ATS in equipping students for the agricultural workforce and identifies the gaps in employment opportunities for Agricultural diploma holders. The data was collected from 40 ATS under the jurisdiction of Dr. PDKV, Akola. Data on interpretation revealed that out of 18,301 diploma holders, only 7.89 percent secured public sector jobs, while 23.26 percent found employment in the private sector. A notable 31.18 percent of diploma holders engaged in entrepreneurial activities, primarily in the service and production sectors. Despite these achievements, a substantial unemployment rate of 37.65 percent persists among diploma holders, highlighting the urgent need for enhanced support and resources for entrepreneurship development. The findings indicate that while ATS diploma holders are acquiring skills for various employment avenues, a significant portion remains unemployed, necessitating targeted interventions to promote self-employment and entrepreneurship as viable career paths. This study underscores the importance of aligning educational programs with market demands and fostering a culture of entrepreneurship to empower ATS diploma holders in their career pursuits.
