Histological analysis of the gonadal development in fantail gold fish (Carassius auratus)
Journal of Entomology and Zoology Studies · 2024 · Vol. 12(5) · pp. 145–151
Abstract
The present study revealed developmental phases of ovary and testis in fantail gold fish (Carassius auratus). Five ovarian maturation stages were observed: primary oocyte, cortical alveoli, early secondary oocyte, late secondary oocyte and atresia stage. In seminiferous tubule of testis, four distinct patterns were distinct spermatogonial cell, primary spermatocytes, secondary spermatocytes and spermatids and a large quantity of spermatozoa. Our investigation has also shown highly significant correlation of ovary weight and testes weight with gonado-somatic index in fantail gold fish. Ova dimensions were observed from 1548.8 μm2 to 11523.07 μm2.
