Agri-entrepreneurship support systems: Fostering sustainable agricultural development and rural livelihoods in Assam

Abstract

This paper explores the current state and challenges of agri-entrepreneurship in Assam, India, through the lens of support systems designed to promote sustainable agricultural development and rural livelihoods. Drawing on data from a World Bank baseline survey and insights from a validation workshop, the study examines the effectiveness of existing mechanisms such as financial assistance, technical training, and policy frameworks. It highlights the role of these systems in improving rural livelihoods, reducing migration, and strengthening community resilience. Recommendations are offered for enhancing support systems to ensure sustainable, long-term growth in rural Assam.
