Dinacharya and stress management: A preventive approach

Abstract

Stress has become an integral part of modern life, leading to various physical and mental health issues. Ancient Ayurvedic practices, such as Dinacharya, offer a holistic approach to preventing stress and promoting overall well-being. Hence in this article we are going to explore the effectiveness of Dinacharya, a daily regimen based on Ayurvedic principles, in managing stress and promoting relaxation. A comprehensive review of existing literature on Dinacharya and stress management, incorporating Ayurvedic texts, research studies, and expert opinions. Dinacharya's daily routine, including waking up with the sun, meditation, yoga, and seasonal adaptations, helps regulate the body's circadian rhythms and reduces stress. Ayurvedic practices like Abhyanga (self-massage), Swedana (steam bath), and Rasayana (rejuvenation therapy) enhance relaxation and reduce cortisol levels. Dinacharya's emphasis on diet, sleep, and exercise helps maintain physical and mental balance, reducing stress vulnerability. Mindfulness and meditation practices in Dinacharya improve emotional regulation, cognitive function, and overall well-being. Dinacharya offers a preventive approach to stress management, promoting physical, mental, and emotional well-being through a holistic daily regimen. By incorporating Ayurvedic principles, individuals can reduce stress, enhance overall quality of life. In this study a critical explanation, presented on how to prevent stress by Dincharya is explained.
