Invitro efficacy of fungicides against seed borne Colletotrichum capsici in chilli

Abstract

Chilli is generally associated with several seedborne pathogens viz Rhizopus sp, Aspergillus flavus, Fusarium sp, Colletotrichum capsici, Aspergillus niger, Penicillium spp and Curvularia lunata. Among them Colletotrichum capsici is a major pathogen affecting chilli crops. It causes significant yield losses. By identifying effective fungicides and standardization of its concentration, will ensure better productivity and reduces product loss. Six fungicides @1000 ppm 1500 ppm, 2000 ppm, 2500 ppm, 3000 ppm were evaluated under In vitro against C. capsici isolated from chilli seed through poisoned food technique (Nene and Thapliyal, 1993) on PDA medium to know their efficacy as fungicides. Among the six fungicides Tebuconozole 25.9% EC was effective with the mean inhibition of 98.33% where complete inhibition is observed @2000, 2500, 3000 ppm followed by Metalaxyl 4% + Mancozeb 64% WP with the mean inhibition of 83% where inhibition observed @ 3000 ppm and least effective was Penflufen 13.28% + Trifloxystrobin 13.28% with the mean inhibition of 50.02%.
