A descriptive study to assess the perspective of E-Learning among the nursing students of Rayat Bahra College of Nursing, Mohali, Punjab

Abstract

Background: E-learning uses by internet to provide various solutions that improve knowledge and performance. Through the use of networking technology, an online learning environment creates, preserves and shares knowledge and education materials anytime, anywhere. E-learning means gaining knowledge with the help of electronic media like Computers, Laptops, mobile phones etc. Being the second largest user of information technology for teaching-learning purpose, India has seen a steady growth in E-learning in every profession including Nursing and Medical education. Aim of the study: To assess the perspective of E-learning among nursing students of Rayat Bahra College of Nursing, Mohali, Punjab.Material and Methods: A quantitative research approach and descriptive research design was used to conduct the study. Sample size of 200 nursing students were selected by using Convenient Sampling Technique A self-structured tool was used for data collection and analysis was done by using descriptive and inferential statistics.Results: The study findings revealed that majority of the students (82%) have a good perspective. A smaller portion of students (18%) fall into the average perspective category.Conclusion: The study concluded that most of the students have a positive and favourable perspective regarding E-learning. E-learning increases the access of students and compensate for deficiencies in face-to-face conventional education. In E-learning every student can learn at there own pace and can make up the missed lectures. E-learning improves technical skills and is cost effective.
