Abstract

The present investigation entitled, "Correlation and path analysis studies in rice (Oryza sativa L.)" aimed to assess the correlation between yield and yield-contributing traits, investigate the direct and indirect effects of these traits on rice yield. The experiment was conducted in kharif-2023 season at Zonal Agriculture Research Station, Sindewahi, Dist. Chandrapur. Material under study constitutes 35 Genotypes with 5 checks of rice obtained from Zonal Agriculture Research Station, Sindewahi, Dist. Chandrapur. Genotypes were studied for fourteen different traits. The experiment was conducted using randomized block design (RBD) in three replications. From the study it is indicated that there was a strong positive correlations of grain yield plant-1 with number of panicles plant-1, number of tillers plant-1, number of filled grains panicle-1 and 1000 grain weight. Path analysis further highlighted that number of panicles plant-1 and number of filled grains panicle-1 exerted the highest positive direct effects on grain yield plant-1, emphasizing their significance in yield improvement strategies. Based on the study, genotypes SYE-132-16-32-18-19-17-31, SYE-321-18-27-31-33-38-8 and SYE-887-19-7-23-17-19-15 were identified as superior genotypes compared to all other genotypes, suggesting their potential for further advancement in rice breeding programs.
