Varietal evaluation of vegetative parameter of different China aster cultivars (Callistephus chinensis L.) under Rajnandgaon district of Chhattisgarh
Abstract
The present investigation was carried out in the Department of Floriculture and Landscape Architecture at Pt. Kishori Lal Shukla College of Horticulture and “Research Station,” Pendri “Farm, Rajnandgaon (C.G.) during the year 2019-20. The experiment was laid out in six varieties of China aster with four replications in randomized block design. The study was conducted to identify suitable China aster varieties under open condition at Rajnandgaon district of Chhattisgarh. Phule Ganesh White was significantly superior amongst varieties which recorded maximum plant height (72.28 cm), leaf length (10.24 cm), stem diameter (10.22 mm). Significantly Arka Archana recorded earliest seed germination (3.25 days), maximum” plant spread in E-W and N-S direction (29.58 cm and 30.92 cm). Arka Kamini was produced maximum no. of branches per plant (29.43) and Phule Ganesh Pink recorded maximum no. of leaves per plant (328.92). Thus the result depicted that Arka Kamini, Arka Poornima, Arka Shashank, Phule Ganesh White and Phule Ganesh Pink are the most suitable cultivars to be grown for cut flower production, whereas Arka Archana have greater importance for loose flower production in Chhattisgarh.
