Growth and yield of elephant foot yam in millet-based cropping systems under Godavari alluviums of Andhra Pradesh

International Journal of Research in Agronomy · 2024 · Vol. 7(9) · pp. 731–734

Abstract

A field experiment was conducted during kharif, 2023-2024 to study the performance of elephant foot yam [Amorphophallus paeoniifolius (Dennst.) Nicolson] based inter cropping systems with millets under Godavari alluviums of Andhra Pradesh. The experiment was carried out with nine treatments and three replications and this experiment mainly focussed on different intercropping systems with elephant foot yam. The results demonstrate that elephant foot yam cultivated as a sole crop (T1) outperformed among all the treatments in terms of growth and yield parameters. However, among the intercrops, elephant foot yam intercropped with little millet (T8) was identified as the most beneficial system under Godavari Alluviums.
