The impact of micronutrients and their application schedule on the yield of carrots (Daucus carota L.) variety New Kuroda in Southern Telangana conditions

Abstract

During the Rabi season of 2018-2019, a field experiment was conducted at SKLTS Horticultural University, Hyderabad, Telangana, India, to assess the effects of micronutrients and their application schedules on the yield of carrots (Daucus carota L.) cv. New Kuroda. The study employed a Factorial Randomized Block Design (FRBD) with 14 treatments, involving various concentrations of seven micronutrients and two different spray timings. Each treatment combination was replicated three times. Among these treatments, foliar application of zinc, iron, and magnesium each at 0.5%, copper at 0.2% and boron at 0.5% at 45 days after sowing demonstrated the following benefits: shortest time to first harvest (74.17 days), longest root length (20.60 cm), greatest root diameter (4.40 cm), highest fresh weight of root (82.13 g), highest root yield per plot (4.80 kg) and highest root yield per hectare (16.00 t).
