Assess resource utilization efficiency in mustard cultivation on different size of sample farms

Abstract

The study was conducted to determine ‘Assess resource utilization efficiency in mustard cultivation on different sizes of sample farms in Jhansi district’. The study used 159 mustard growers from 300 farmer adopting different pollinator friendly practices. Descriptive and statistical tools including cobb-Douglas production function were used to analyze data which were collected from structured interview schedule. The benefit cost ratio (1.24) indicates that mustard. Production was profitable with productivity of 0.81 tonha the magnitude of regression coefficients of mustard implied that use of human labor, tractor, nutrient and irrigation, plant protection, machinery charge, manure & fertilizer costs had significant at 1% and 5% profitable levels. Positivity effect on grows return with estimated increasing return to scale. according to estimated allocative efficiency indicates, it is suggested to increases use of tractor, machinery charge, labor, seed, nutrients and irrigation, plant protection costs by about 80.85%, 83.83%, and 85.11% of the variation in the dependent variable for marginal, small and medium farms respectively. To be 0.837274, 0.997068, 0.851999 respectively. The variables X1, X2, X3, X4, and X5, X6 represent sed, tractor charge, manure & fertilizer, irrigation, plant protection and human labor, respectively. The returns of the scale for marginal, small and medium farms were found. Extension of Morden technologies with adjustment on resource use is to be encouraged for increase in productivity and profit from mustard production which indirectly promotes and ensures forage for pollinators.
