Adoption of organic farming practices of coffee plantation in the Dindigul district of Tamil Nadu

Abstract

The purpose of the study was to ascertain how farmers on coffee plantations adopted organic farming methods. One of the most consumed drinks in the world is coffee. Traditionally, Karnataka, Kerala, and Tamil Nadu are home to the Western Ghats, where it is grown. The 120 farmers were chosen at random from one block and eight villages in order to assess the organic farming methods used on coffee plantations. The research findings showed that 50.00 percent of respondents had a medium level of adoption, followed by 34.17% who had a high level of adoption and the remaining 15.83 percent of growers who had a high level of adoption. The adoption of organic farming practices in coffee plantations is influenced by socioeconomic factors and knowledge. Factors such as age, education, family size, income, land holding, household materials, social participation, extension contact, innovativeness, decision making, and adopters' knowledge showed a significant relationship on the level of adoption, while factors like caste, family type, and occupation showed a non-significant relationship.
