Investigate the socio-economic status of Pulse growers in Bundelkhand Region of Uttar Pradesh

Abstract

The present study was conducted in Bundelkhand region of Uttar Pradesh during 2022-24 to know the socio-economic status of pulse growers in investigate. The primary information collected from 300 pulse growers through simple random sampling technique. A pre-tested questionnaire, semi-structured interview schedule and open discussion method were used for data collection. In order to achieve the objectives of study, simple analysis was used as analytical tools. The results of study revealed that about 80 per cent marginal and small farmers have been engaged in agriculture as source of income and food security. Most of the pulse growing farmers were in the lower medium (31-45 years) age group and studied up to junior high school level. The pulse grower about 51.67 percent belongs from other backward class caste and 65.67 percent respondetns live as a nuclear family in selected region of the study. The aggregate annual income earned by pulse growing farmers was ranged from Rs. 1.50 lakh in case of marginal farmers and Rs. 1.5 to 5.0 lakhs in case of medium category farmers.
