Knowledge and adoption of organic farming practices by paddy growers

Abstract

Organic farming is a system of agriculture that promotes working in harmony with nature rather than against it. The growing awareness of health and environment issues in agriculture has led to the demand for production of organic food which as an attractive source of income generation. The adoption of organic farming practices among paddy growers is crucial for promoting sustainable agriculture and reducing environmental degradation. The present study was carried out in Chandrapur district of Vidarbha region in Maharashtra State and exploratory research design used for the study. The total sample consist of 120 paddy growers practicing organic farming. It can be found that majority of paddy growers had high level of knowledge and medium to high level of adoption of organic farming practices.
