Impact of varied growing conditions and media on the growth and yield of Asiatic lilium

Abstract

An experiment on “Impact of Varied Growing Conditions and Media on the Growth and Yield of Asiatic lilium” were conducted during the year 2020-21 and 2021-22 at ornamental flower nursery, College of Horticulture, Anand Agricultural University, Anand. The Experiment was laid out in Completely Randomized Black Design (Factorial) with three repetition and sixteen treatment combinations comprising of four different growing condition (G1- 75% Green colour shade net, G2- 75% White colour shade net, G3- 75% Black colour shade net and G4- Open condition) and four different media combinations [(M1- Soil: Cocopeat: Vermiculite (5:3:2), M2- Soil: Sand: FYM (4:3:3), M3-Cocopeat: Soil: Sand (5:3:2), M4-Cocopeat: Vermiculite: Perlite (7:2:1). Growing of Lilium in 75% green colour shade net recorded maximum plant height at 30 DAS, plant height at harvest and number of leaves. Whereas, the number of bulb per plant and weight of bulb (g) were observed in open condition, while plant height at 30 DAS, plant height at harvest and numbers of leaves were noted maximum with the treatment M4-Cocopeat: Vermiculite: Perlite (7:2:1).Whereas, the number of bulb per plant and weight of bulb (g) were observed with the treatment M4 - soil: cocopeat: vermiculite (5:3:2 v/v). Interaction effect of different growing condition and growing media with respect to yield parameter like number of bulb per plant was remained non-significant. Growing of lilium with the treatment combination of G1M4: 75 % green colour shade net and media combination of Cocopeat: Vermiculite: Perlite (7:2:1 v/v) recorded maximum plant height at 30 DAS, plant height at harvest and number of leaves, while the weight of bulb were recorded maximum with the treatment combination G4M1 [open condition +Soil: Cocopeat: Vermiculite (5:3:2)].
