Quality of life of a sample of multiple sclerosis patient in Baghdad/2023

Abstract

Objectives: This study aimed to assess the QoL of MS patients in Baghdad and examine the influence of sociodemographic factors on it. Results: The mean age of participants was 36±11 years, with females constituting 65.5% of the sample. Most participants (67.5%) lived in Baghdad, and 70.5% were married. Sixty-four percent of the participants were in the intermediate socioeconomic category. The mean disease duration was 8±7 years, and the mean overall QoL score was 102±34, indicating a moderate level of QoL. Conclusion: The majority of participants had a good overall QoL, followed by moderate and poor scores, with the lowest proportion having an excellent QoL. A significant association was observed between QoL and socioeconomic index, while age, sex, marital status, residence, duration of symptoms until diagnosis, and disease duration were not significantly associated with QoL.
