Assessment of bioregulators influence under waterlogged environments on yield and morphological characters of tomato (Solanum lycopersicum L.)

Abstract

The present investigation was laid out in a Factorial completely randomized design carried out at Horticultural Research Station, Anantharajupeta, Annamaya district, Andhra Pradesh during rabi 2023. This experiment aimed to investigate the influence of bioregulators with four waterlogging levels replicated thrice. The results revealed that foliar spray of Glucose @ 1.5 g L-1 at No waterlogging registered the maximum plant height and Glutathione @ 100 mg L-1 at No waterlogging showed the maximum number of branches per plant, Specific leaf weight and relative growth rate. While, the maximum number of fruits per plant and fruit yield per plant was recorded in Glutathione @ 100 mg L-1 at 0 days of waterlogging. Similarly, under waterlogging conditions, the response of bioregulators was effective until four days and there is no much impact on 6 days of waterlogged plants, which reduced the yield. Here we can conclude that the exogenous application of Glutathione @ 100 mg L-1 and Potassium nitrate @ 5 g L-1 showed the best performance in enhancement of morphological parameters and yield parameters under waterlogging conditions.
