Study of Zn(II)-Ibuprofen complex by polarographic method with its antibacterial activity

Abstract

Polarography and spectroscopy were used to examine the development of Zn(II) and Ibuprofen complexes in DMF medium at pH of 6.50±0.01. The complex of ibuprofen produces a well-defined direct current polarogram and differential pulse polarogram in 2M Britton Robinson buffer. The Zn(II)-Ibuprofen complex has a stoichiometry of 1:2 (M:L). The serial tube dilution method (MICT) was used for exploring the antibacterial activity of the newly synthesized complex against pathogens, Bacillus subtilis, and Escherichia coli. According to the findings, ibuprofen increased antibacterial activity when it cooperative to the Zn(II) ion.
