Correlation and path coefficient analysis studies in mutant PVK 801 genotype of sorghum (Sorghum bicolor (L.) Moench)

Abstract

The sorghum cultivar PVK 801 was mutated with the aid of gamma rays and EMS. The sample being studied comprised of different mutagenic treatments treated with different concentrations viz., (10 kR, 20 kR, 30 kR, 40 kR, 10 kR+0.2% EMS, 20 kR+0.2% EMS, 30 kR+0.2% EMS and 40 kR+0.2% EMS) were combination of treatments and both dry and wet control treatments were examined for correlation and path analysis for the grain produce as well as certain independent traits in M3 generation. In Kharif 2020, each of these treatments was grown in a randomised block design using three replications. The number of grains per primary, primaries per panicle, panicle length, panicle breadth, 100 seed weight, and days to 50% flowering all showed a positive significant link with grain yield per plant. Following the number of primaries per panicle, panicle width, panicle length, days, plant height, and 100 seed weight, path analysis showed that the number of grains per primary had the largest positive direct effect on seed yield.0.6 was the component of the path analysis's residual effect.
