A critical study on paddy and wheat harvesting machine used in Chhattisgarh

International Journal of Advanced Biochemistry Research · 2024 · Vol. 8(9S) · pp. 464–475

Abstract

Harvesting of crops is a critical Agricultural task that requires significant labor. The availability and cost of labor during the harvesting season present major challenges, leading to potential losses for farmers due to labor shortages and unpredictable weather. To address these issues, it is crucial to adopt mechanical methods to ensure timely harvesting. In recent years, the use of mechanical harvesting devices has increased, with farmers utilizing reapers and combines. However, combines are particularly expensive, making them unaffordable for many small-scale farmers. Although some manually operated reapers have been developed, they have not gained widespread popularity due to limitations in manual power, which affects the machine's ability to transport, cut, and convey crops effectively. This research involved studying various types of harvesting machines and techniques used in Chhattisgarh for harvesting paddy and wheat crop.
