Evaluation of different temperature for optimum mycelia growth of Kirajadi mushroom (Cordyceps militaris) in solid media and in submerged condition for liquid spawn

Abstract

Cordyceps militaris is a beneficial medicinal and entomopathogenic fungus with strong potential for enhancing immune system function, preventing cancer, and reducing inflammation. Cordycepin (3’-deoxyadenosine) is the main bioactive metabolite of C. militaris. It is well known that a variety of factors, including the incubation temperature, can impact a fungus's growth rate and ability to produce metabolites. In present experiment the culture of Kirajadi mushroom (Cordyceps militaris) were incubated at five different temperatures viz. 12 °C, 16 °C, 20 °C, 24 °C and 28 °C for optimum mycelia growth of Kirajadi mushroom (Cordyceps militaris) in solid media in submerged condition for liquid spawn. Among the tested temperature, best mycelia growth and maximum biomass in submerged condition were found at 24 °C temperature.
