Therapeutic management of canine oral papillomatosis

Abstract

In dogs, canine papillomatosis is a viral infection that exhibits itself quite commonly, especially among the younger age group. The disorder is distinguished by the development of several benign epithelial tumors that are visible on the skin and mucous membranes. A 1.5 years old male Pomeranian dog was presented to the Veterinary Clinical Complex at the College of Veterinary Science in Rampura Phul, GADVASU, Bathinda, with a history of progressive development of multiple cauliflower-like outgrowths on the oral mucous membrane and tongue since two months. The diagnosis of canine papillomatosis was made after conducting a clinical examination. The dog was treated with injectable lithium antimony thiomalate and azithromycin tablets. This case study provides an overview of the therapeutic therapy of oral papillomatosis in canines.
