Seasonal incidence of capsule borer (Conogethes punctiferalis) in castor as affected by Abiotic factors and its incidence in farmers fields by roving survey in Satyasai and Anantapur districts of A.P.

International Journal of Advanced Biochemistry Research · 2024 · Vol. 8(9S) · pp. 361–365

Abstract

The damage due to Conogethes punctiferalisin castor under unprotected conditions in the research station during 2023-24 ranged from 14.2% to 24.4%. The data was pooled and analyzed statistically with weather parameters using correlation and Regression techniques.damage in the farmers fields also recorded during the same year in different villages of Satyasai and Anantapur districts. The results revealed that the highest percentage of capsule damage was recorded in Narsapuram (50.7%) followed by Maruru (41.8%), Tadimarri (38.9%), Pothulanagepalli (38.4%), Puttaparthy (37.5%), Pappuru (36.6%), Anantapuramu (34.3%), Singanamala (23.7%), respectively. Mapping of the severity based on the capsule damage in different mandalswill be helpful for forecasting and Managment of the capsule borer.
