An assessment of determinants and performance of Agri exports in India under geopolitical situation

Abstract

India ranks top most position with regard to exporters of Agricultural products with a total export of $ 49.67 billion, with 20% surge from 2020-2021 and mainly because of comprehensive Agriculture Export Policy; Products Specific Export Promotion Forums give impetus to the export of potential products as well as to remove the bottlenecks in the supply chain. The present paper examines the assessment of determinants and Performance of Agri exports in India. The findings of the study in the pre WTO era the index value 0.745 implies that divergence in the Agricultural exports, specialisation in Agricultural exports during that era. However, in the post WTO era, the index value 0.895 relatively value implies that convergence and policies are focused on diversifications of Agricultural exports in post WTO period. The regression coefficient of inflation rate and exchange rate is equal to -541.36 and -2145 respectively which means if one percent in inflation rate and exchange rate would decrease 541 and 2145 Rs. crores of Agri exports, however the coefficient of FDI (214.14) which means that if one percent increase in FDI would increases in the 214.14 crores of value of exports. Therefore, RBI should take appropriate measures to keep the inflation under control which enables by correcting the supply side constraint and furthermore, given the much heavy impetus on Agri exports on the markets advanced countries the impact of slowdown in these countries is adversely affecting our Agri exports trade thus concerned authorities should adopt some strategies like diversification of exports to new geographical destinations subjected to quality parameters.
