Role of nanoparticles in shrimp culture: A nanotechnology perspective

Abstract

Aquaculture is a emerging significant global food industry. This sector not only creates jobs but also contributes to increased global food security, particularly in countries with weak economies. The productivity and sustainability of shrimp farming have significantly increased with the introduction of species like Litopenaeus vannamei, the Pacific white shrimp. Aquaculture could benefit greatly from the application of nanotechnology since it presents novel approaches to disease control, fertilizer delivery, and water quality management. To fully understand the long-term consequences of nanotechnology in aqua field on the environment and human health, further research is necessary as it is still relatively new in this field. As a result, we have covered the many applications of nanotechnology in the aqua sector in this review chapter and have also provided information on the nanoparticles used in fish and shrimp farming.
