Efficacy of selected fungicides against Lasiodiplodia theobromae causing root rot in mulberry

Abstract

Root rot in mulberry is an important disease causing considerable yield loss incited by fungal pathogen Lasiodiplodia theobromae. In this study selected contact, systemic and combi fungicides were evaluated among them captan 50% WP was found significantly superior with 98.15 percent mycelial inhibition at 1000 ppm concentration. However, systemic fungicides, tebuconazole and propiconozole were found significantly superior with cent percent mean mycelial inhibition followed by carbendazim with 98.52 percent mean mycelial inhibition. Out of six combi products tested carbendazim 12% + mancozeb 63% WP was significantly effective with maximum mean mycelial inhibition (100%) followed by azoxystrobin 11% + tebuconozole 18.3% SC with 98.23 percent mean mycelial inhibition and were found on par with each other. The mycelial growth inhibition was cent percent in carbendazim 12% + mancozeb 63% WP at all concentrations 250, 500 and 1000 ppm followed by azoxystrobin 11% + tebuconozole 18.3% SC with cent percent inhibition at 500 and 1000 ppm and 94.07 percent inhibition at 250 ppm. The systemic and combi fungicides were found best under in-vitro condition as reflected through mycelia inhibition.
