Comparative field efficacy of biopesticides and chemical insecticides against pea leaf miner, Chromatomyia horticola (Goureau) on pea (Pisum sativum L.)
Abstract
The field experiment was conducted in the Rabi season of 2023–2024 at Cental Research Farm (CRF), SHUATS, Uttar Pradesh, India. The experiment was laid out in Randomised Block Design with eight treatments each replicated thrice viz., Emamectin benzoate 5% SG (0.4 ml/L), Beauveria bassiana (2 g/L), Abamectin 1.9 EC (0.75 ml/L), Imidacloprid 17.8 SL (0.5 ml/L), Azadirechtin 1500 ppm (2 ml/L), Spinosad 45% SC (0.25 ml/L), Chlorantraniliprole 18.5% EC (0.25 ml/L), and untreated control against pea leaf miner. The data on percent leaf infestation of Chromatomyia horticola (Goureau) after the first and second sprays revealed that all the treatments were significantly superior to the control. Among all treatments, Chlorantraniliprole 18.5% EC (5.13% and 2.17%) recorded lowest infestation of Chromatomyia horticola (Goureau) after both sprays followed by Spinosad 45% SC (5.49% and 2.6%), Imidacloprid 17.8 SL (6.04% and 2.97%), Emamectin benzoate 5% SG (6.33% and 3.37%), Abamectin 1.9 EC (6.73% and 3.77%), Azadirechtin 1500 ppm (7.13% and 4.17%), Beauveria bassiana (7.53% and 4.62%) was the least effective among all treatments respectively. While, the highest yield and cost benefit ratio was recorded in Chlorantraniliprole 18.5% (66.50 and 1:3.27 followed by Spinosad 45% SC (55.80 and 1:2.95), Imidacloprid 17.8 SL (52.44 and 1:2.76), Emamectin benzoate 5% SG (49.79 and 1:2.65), Abamectin 1.9 EC (46.68 and 1:2.24), Azadirechtin 1500 ppm (43.54 and 1:2.27), Beauveria bassiana (41.49 and 1:2.18) and control (30.57 and 1:1.68).
