Abstract

Excessive and unbalanced use of chemical fertilizers has resulted in soil degradation, nutrient deficiencies and environmental pollution. To mitigate these negative effects and sustain soil productivity, adopting a comprehensive strategy that prioritizes organic methods that are economically and environmentally viable is crucial in order to improve soil health, biodiversity, fertility, and pest resistance. Application of manures not only improves the cycling of nutrients but also effectively stimulates crop growth and yields. The use of liquid organic manures is essential for maintaining ecosystem health, sustainable agriculture, and soil fertility and productivity. Organic manures such as jeevamrutha, beejamrutha, panchagavya, vermicompost, vermiwash, green leaf extracts, biodigester, etc., is becoming more important in modern agriculture. These liquid organic manures are indispensable components of ecologically friendly farming practices because they can be applied in a number of ways and used as soil drenches, seed and seedling treatments, foliar sprays. Combining liquid and solid organic manures is recommended to minimize side effects and ensure a healthy and productive farming environment.
