Evaluation of urine samples of domesticated grazing animals (Cow, sheep and Goat) to study concentration of glucose level

Abstract

Though Cow, Sheep and Goat are ruminants the ultimate end product of grass metabolism is only the glucose a metabolic fuel. Normal blood glucose level of these animals is 42 to 80 mg/dl only. Below 42 mg/dl results in hypoglycemia and beyond 82 mg/dl results in hyperglycemia. This paper aims to ascertaining the glucose level in urine samples collected (free catch) from specifically selected adult Cow, Sheep and Goat in four consecutive every week end days (Sunday) in the month of January-2018 in clean container with a tight-fitted lid and carried out analysis process. After qualitative analysis of sample with specific methodology results revealed that no inference of development of any colored precipitate but just there was only blue color. It clearly indicated that the urine samples of cutchooving ruminants implies that these animals did not diabetic in that study period. It might be due to the lack of mental stress and normal condition of physiological functions of various systems of the body. Thus, mental stress is the prime causative factor for diabetes mellitus in addition to type of feed, gene defect and hormonal imbalance.
