Early diagnosis and treatment of acute impending compartment syndrome of forearm

International Journal of Orthopaedics Sciences · 2024 · Vol. 10(3) · pp. 92–95

Abstract

An upper arm compartment is a rare type of compartment syndrome. Electric shock and tight bandages are few of the common causes for compartment syndrome of upper limb. Other causes include traumatic and non-traumatic causes. A forearm compartment syndrome is rare but should be recognized earliest as any delay in diagnosis and treatment can result in permanent loss of functional limb. Fasciotomy is the treatment of choice and should be performed in emergency basis once diagnosis is confirmed.
