Endoscopic combined intrarenal surgery in treatment of complex renal calculi
Abstract
Introduction & Objectives: Complex renal stones (CRS) are challenging to treat and represent a dilemma for urologists. Endoscopic combined intrarenal surgery (ECIRS) is a well-established technique for removal of complex renal stones. Our aim is to assess the outcomes of (ECIRS) in the management of CRS. Patients and Methods: Following the approval of our local ethics committee, 15 participants with CRS were included and underwent ECIRS. Stone free rate (SFR), Operative time, hospitalization period, HB reduction, and the complications were reported. Results: The mean age was 54.1±9.10 years. The mean size of stone was 45.9±8.01. The 3-months SFR was 86.6% (13/15). The operative time was 115.3±13.13 min, the postoperative HB reduction was 1.3±0.89 g/dl, the need for multiple punctures was 20%. Conclusions: ECIRS is safe and efficient in treating complex renal stones with a high SFR. However, ECIRS has low postoperative HB drop, lower rate of multiple punctures and short operative time.
