Undergraduate student’s attitudes toward using Google Translation

Abstract

Learning a language has been significantly impacted by the use of technology in EFL (English as a Foreign Language) instruction. A well-liked resource for EFL students, Google provides speedy translation. This study evaluates prior research to comprehend EFL students' reliance on Google Translate. It does this by looking at their attitudes, usage motivations, and frequency of usage. This study can contribute to the ongoing research on the role of technology in language education and help shape teaching methods that balance the advantages of digital tools with the importance of cultivating fundamental language skills. The study consists of a simple random sample of (45) of Undergraduate Students in Alfarahidi University-College of Education. The researcher used a questionnaire to collect data from the participants. The findings of this study have shed light on EFL students' attitudes towards Google Translate, revealing both its perceived benefits and drawbacks. While many students appreciate the convenience and accessibility of Google Translate, there is also recognition of its limitations, including inaccuracies, inconsistencies, and the risk of hindering critical language skills development. The researchers believe that students should balance between the benefits of technology and the promotion of essential language skills. EFL students can maximize their language learning potential and achieve proficiency in English as a foreign language.
