Muskmelon response to various multiplex yield enhancers in terms of growth, yield, and pest incidence

Abstract

Muskmelon is an important cucurbit crop grown mainly on the riverbanks of India. There has been limited study on integrated muskmelon production. However, a variety of multiplex products have been tested on different crops for several years, yielding satisfactory results. An attempt was made to test organic and inorganic combinations of multiplex yield enhancers on muskmelon. The results are very encouraging and show that treatment T10 recorded the highest plant height at 60 and 90 days after planting (DAP) and increased the number of leaves during the early growth of the plant. Treatment T16 reported an increased number of laterals, number of fruits per plant (5.33), and yield (3.79 kg/plant and 20.83 tonnes/ha). The treatment included amino acids (samaras), bio stimulants (Navjeevan G), and biopesticides (Biojodi), which have been reported to reduce pest and disease attacks. The integrated use of recommended fertilizer, all essential nutrients, bio stimulants, biofertilizers, and biopesticides in organic and inorganic forms needs to be incorporated in crop production for quality produce and higher yield.
