Effect of various level of phosphorus and spacing on growth and yield of lentil (Lens culinaries M.)

Abstract

The field experiment was carried out in the 2023–2024 rabi season at Dev Bhoomi Uttarakhand University, Dehradun, at the Crop Research Farm. Since most soils in rainfed agro-ecosystems have low to medium levels of accessible phosphorus. Lentil respond well to phosphorus fertilization. The experiment was consisting of 4 phosphorus level and 3 spacings. Total 12 treatment combinations have made and applied in 3 replications. The results indicate that plants with a spacing of 45x10 cm had a considerably greater plant height (29.59 cm), dry weight (4.81g), number of root nodules (48.39), higher crop growth rate (4.42), higher relative growth rate (5.60), number of seed pod-1 (1.78), higher number of pods plant-1 (69.03 cm), and a higher test weight (36.52), grain yield (11.53), straw yield (19.78) in that order.
