International Journal of Gynaecology Sciences · 2024 · Vol. 6(2) · pp. 01–03

Abstract

Background: Premature Rupture of Membrane is associated with increase maternal morbidity and mortality. The purpose of this research is to ascertain the fetal and maternal outcome in a case of premature rupture of membrane (PROM) following 37 weeks. Materials and Methods: One hundred patients diagnosed with PROM at or beyond 37 weeks gestation participated in a retrospective cross-sectional study centered at ESIC Medical college and hospital from 01/06/2023-31/05/2024 (1 yr), to examine the outcomes for both mothers and fetuses. Results: Among total 1931 Deliveries, 13% of the cases, perinatal morbidity was seen. Newborn infections was the most frequent cause. Conclusions: Prolonged PROM to delivery intervals were associated with higher rates of morbidity. So proper analysis of case is important for prevention of morbidity and mortality.
